(More customer reviews)I got this camera mainly for its very high speed video modes for a project I was working on.However, it has turned out to be a very nice general purpose camera for a lot of things.

The 1000 frame per second video is very low resolution, but it worked fine for the project I needed it for.The normal speed 720p HD video is also good.There are other video modes with varying speed and resolution that I have not tried yet, but should be fine.

For still photos, the high speed sequence mode is also great.Up to 40 frames per second at 9 megapixels per image.It can only do 40 frames at a time, and it takes a few seconds to write them all to the SD card after you shoot them.You can easily pick the number of frames in the sequence, the number of frames per second and where in the sequence the frames are relative to when you press the shutter.So, you can get the 40 frames that happen in the second BEFORE you press, which is great for some of those really hard to get shots.The issue with this is that you have to hold the shutter down half way to get it taking the photos and its continuously taking and discarding the photos until you press the button the rest of the way.This uses a LOT of battery power, and you can run down the batteries very quickly!But if you do any kind of fast action photography, this feature is GREAT!

Aside from that, the camera does very well in general use, and has replaced our Nikon SLR for a lot of things.It does very good close up photos, like flowers, while being much smaller and lighter than the SLR, so its a lot more likely to get carried on a hike.The dual mode viewfinder, with the external LCD and SLR type viewfinder is very nice.We tend to use the LCD for most things, but when its really bright out, the ability to hold it up to your eye is very useful.

The camera uses 4 AA type batteries.I use Sanyo Eneloop cells, which will hold charge for many months.I keep a set in the camera and a spare set in the bag.

This order was actually from Cameta Camera, and they were very good to deal with.The bundled items were good quality, and we really like the camera bag it came with. One of the items in the bundle was out of stock when we ordered, but they automatically shipped the rest of it immediately, and the other item showed up a week later.
