(More customer reviews)For some reason, this lens gets a bad rap but, I have found my copy to be fine. Is it a Zeiss? No. Is it that different from a Zeiss? No. Is it cheaper than a Zeiss or Sony G? For sure! I got mine on sale for $200.
I've been shooting with my copy for a few months and, am happy as a clam that it cost so little but delivers high quality images.
A good solid performer. If you get it on sale, I would call it an excellent lens.
One final thought on the zoom ring: It is tighter on this lens compared to other Sony, Minolta, and Konica Minolta lenses I own. But I like this as the lens has no lens creep at all. But if you are use to a looser zoom ring, it may seem too tight.
