(More customer reviews)When it comes to lenses for the critical shot I always choose a Canon L glass and this is one of the best I have ever owned. Weighty for sure but this glass can replace 2 or 3 other lenses once you learn to trust what it can do. Beleive it or not I carry this lens as my standard "all the time" lens on a T1i body and it has rarely failed me indoor for portraits or outdoors for a landscape. It is very fast in auto mode, highly accurate and produces as little distortion as I have seen from a zoom lens. It really shines in difficult lighting situations where you do not have the luxury or the time to set up the shot and I have taken some of my most memorable portraits with this lens.

Pros: Crystal clear photos to rival many primes, with great depth and yet plenty of bokeh when you need/want it. Ultra fast USM.
Cons: Substantial lens to carry all the time.
