(More customer reviews)I have a Gitzo tripod and had been looking for a monopod mainly to do early morning photography where I would be moving around a lot. Specifically for several hot air balloon fiestas. I wasn't sure how I would like the twist locks on the monopod but they are great. In retrospect I would have been very unhappy with the flip type locks on my Bogen tripod.
This is a VERY sturdy monopod. I don't have a dedicated head for it yet and am currently using my Arca-Swiss ball head which, although a bit on the heavy side, works very nicely. If you are thinking of using this with a Wimberly and 500, 600 or 800mm lens, it's more than sturdy enough but that's not what I'm going to use it for. I prefer a tripod with that much weight and money but I might give it a few trys.
If you buy this monopod you will never need to think about buying another, this is something you will have the rest of your life.
